HOOK-IN Saturday, August 21 - 10am - 4pm - Hallockville

.

A mini member exhibit

The Ruggers' Hook-In brings together artisans from all over Long Island who share a passion for hand hooked rugs. Visitors will learn about this fascinating art form, create a loop or two and have an opportunity to purchase wool, patterns and other supplies.

A surprise awaited us at our last hook-in (Saturday, July 24) - a cool breeze beneath the shade of the apple trees behind the Hudson House! Even with a heat advisory, we were able to hook comfortably until around 1:30. It suddenly became so hot we had to move in to the air-conditioned Hudson House.

Along with the public, we were visited by a reporter from the group of papers that owns the North Shore Sun, and by Denise Civiletti from www.riverheadlocal.com, a website that highlights Riverhead. Denise videotaped my rug hooking demo and it can be seen on her website.

The companionship was very pleasant and the food was delicious - Sarah’s chicken and rice salad - PR Cookbook recipe?

I hope to see you Saturday, August 21 from 10a to approximately 4p - don’t let the heat advisories of 2010 keep you away!

Call Hallockville at 631-298-5292 for additional information and directions.

The event is free and open to the general public.

Hello everyone! You have a hooking pal in Colorado! Jennifer and I have been talking about an ad for your event next year. Tomorrow is the deadline for the October 2010 issue and my daughter Tina (gwoolikers.com) and I have come up with a last minute plan - she does among a ton of other things for me - the dye articles. She is going to share that page with you ... inside the cover of the October issue. So watch for some pictures with added text that will point folks to this wonderful blog. And, thanks for making WSJ one of your favorite places.
For the love of rug hooking everywhere,
